Scan Results & Next Steps

Isaac has made it through another night. Since receiving the seizure medication, he has not had any more clinical (visible) seizures. The CT scan revealed no bleeding nor clotting in the brain. There was increased fluid symmetrically surrounding his brain, but not to an alarming extent. An EEG has been ordered once more to monitor Isaac's brain activity over an extended period of time to determine whether he is experiencing non-clinical seizures still & where they are firing in the brain. Depending on the results of this monitoring, an MRI may be in order. However, Isaac needs to become far more stable to leave the floor for the long MRI scan. Also, his following resident is performing an LP (lumbar puncture/spinal tap) on him right now to determine whether there is an infection, such as meningitis, in his spinal fluid. Neurology has performed an assessment with results pending. In light of last night's seizure activity, discussion of removing the Broviak has returned to the table.

On a lighter note, his color has improved today & the edema has been reduced. Our sweet boy is back to sleeping soundly with his little hand brought up right under his chin, much like he did in utero (see January 18th blog entry for pics). His heart rate has returned to the 140's & his blood pressure has responded favorably to the epinephrine. And in true fashion, Isaac has thrown us for a loop once more with a lactate of 1.8 most recently.

So the journey continues. While we have no idea what lies just beyond the next bend, we know & trust the One who guides our way. Our hearts are deeply grateful for His faithfulness & for the loving support & friends of everyone around the world. Thank you for continuing to walk along side us as we press on in our journey. The marathon continues one day more.

Thank you so much for sharing your family with us. I check the page every few hrs. and pray continually. I am amazed at the strength that you both have shown, not that it isn't hard at times maybe even all the time but your steady, unwavering dependence on God is amazing. I am mother to 8 children and at times my heart cries out for you two but more then anything I stand in awe of the Great God that we serve and how in the midst of all that is going on He still Reigns and is For Ever True. Just know that when your arms and heart are heavy your are beheld up before the Father.

Patience and Jordan,
Thank you for sharing your sweet Isaac with us and allowing us to join you on this journey. God is in control even though everything seems so out of control at times. God is using you guys and little Isaac in amazing ways that you will never know...only God.
As I kneel before God today, know that our little Isaac is the first on my list and that God hears our cries. What a fighter Isaac is!!!! And you two have put a whole new meaning to the word perseverance.
I love you dearly and will continue to fast and pray for sweet Isaac and for you.
Thank you for being such a witness to me.

One more day to grow stronger, one more day to praise God for all he has done with Isaac so far, one more day to pray for complete healing! Thank you for allowing us all to be a part of your family's journey as we all stand together on Isaac's behalf. Rest when you can, hold him when you can. God Bless!

My heart breaks and my eyes fill with tears as I read about all that happens whith precious little Isaac and you, Patience, and Jordan. When Isaac hurts and you two hurt,I also hurt.
As I was reading in Acts for my Bible reading this morning, I read about people being healed and Dorcas even being brought back to life. God is able to perform mighty miracles. Then in Acts 9, after Paul's Damascus Road experiencce, Jesus told Ananias to go to Paul and put his hand on Paul that his sight might return. Ananias was afraid to go, but the Lord said to him, "Go thy way; for he (Paul)is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel; for I will show him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake."
I thought of Isaac and the two of you, and the suffering you are going through. You must surely also be chosen vessels. In spite of Paul's sufferings- or probably because of them - God was able to use Paul in a mighty way. We cannot completely know God's will, but I pray for the three of you and ask that God's will be done in the way that will bring the most honor and glory to His name. You have been honoring the Lord already, and surely Christ's Kingdom has been strengehened because of Isaac's life and your faithfulness. I pray that He will hold you close and that you will feel His arms around you holding you.
Again last Friday night at our little Bible study, I asked if we could sing, "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands". He' got little baby Isaac in His hands,----He's got you and me in His hands, ----He's got the whole world in His hands. And aren't we glad He has!

I love you so very much, Grandma/Nana Jordan

I can't imagine the span of emotions and feelings you must be going through as results waver up and down. We are so lucky though to know who holds Isaac in His hands. Not one thing has happened in Isaac's lifetime that was not originally ordained by God. We praise Him for He knows the plans that are to come as well. We continue to pray and lift the 3 of you several times daily. What strength you have displayed these past 2 months. God has BIG plans for your entire family. I know He has used you and this situation in many ways already to reach the world. I was just speaking with a friend 1000s of miles away and she was asking how Isaac was doing. The world is truly praying for a healing for your sweet boy.

Patience & Jordan,

I did not see your blog about the seizures until this afternoon because I was out all day. It was so interesting because I was actually at the zoo today with my kids, and when I got them lunch and began to hand out their food I felt lead to fast and pray through lunch for Baby Isaac. I don't think I've ever done that before at some random time.

I have come to love you and your son and our God very deeply through all this. I am so saddened that you have to endure what seems like this never ending rollercoaster.

Father, Please intervene! We don't even know how to pray but to ask you to heal. Hear the prayers of your people! Thank you for his peaceful rest and for a little stability, but Lord we continue to cry out to you, to come to you, to learn and to grow and to watch you work... Lord we ask more than anything to heal his little body. Give him strength to endure. Give him strength to fight. Give the medical staff answers to their questions, but most of all heal him to the point that his parents can take him home. I have no idea what that entails, but you do.

We love you Lord, and see you every day in this situation. We thank you that we have been allowed to be a part of this, and we wait in expectation for your miraculous healing of Isaac.

It is amazing to see all Isaac endures to glorify God. He is a living testimony of how to fully love and rely on God. Surely Isaac will hear one day what we all should pray to hear: Well done my good and faithful servant!

He's still in my prayers until he is healed. What a mighty God we serve! Angels bow before him, heaven and earth adore him... What a mighty God we serve!

The three of you are amazing. To think of the struggles in every day life minus health challenges, I am amazed at your faith and determination. I pray for each of you during this tenuous time.

Just a note to let you know we're still here praying for little Isaac, and praising God for each little step forward. I pray that Isaac is sleeping peacefully and not aware of all that is being done to his little body, and that his wonderful parents have strong hearts and minds as the days wear on. This journey is not over yet! God is still working. Thank you, Jesus!

While God is the ultimate healer and protector, as parents, your enduring strength and love for your sweet son is giving him the will and strength to keep fighting day after day. I am in awe of you both as this journey continues...God has chosen you all for a reason and may His will be done. Bless you all - I continue to pray daily for your son to keep healing. My father would tell me in times of distress to "Keep the Faith!" - you both are such an amazing example of those words.
Deeply touched and moved everyday by your blogs, a friend in Christ from the Midwest

My husband and I are in earnest prayer for you and your family. We pray that God will continue to give you the strength you need to get through this. My family has been there right where you are.... it's scary. And I pray that God will sustain you for as long as it takes. We also pray special blessings on your lives now and in the future. God is Great, and I know through your lives, that He will be praised through all of this. Thank you for being an inspiration through your trials.... God is glorified.
