Extubation?

No news yet on the EEG results nor the cultures taken yesterday. We hope nothing grows in the cultures & our boy will be infection-free. Thankfully, Isaac has not had anymore behavioral quirks since Monday night. The EEG results will confirm whether it was in fact seizure activity or our boy simply throwing us for a loop once again.

Something major for us all to be praying about: if Isaac continues to thrive with the new vent settings, the medical team hopes to attempt extubation this Saturday! This would be a huge step for our son if successful. We're just thrilled to even be considering this. For this to successfully occur, Isaac's left vocal chord needs to be functioning again, his pharynx supporting itself (it was collapsed at the last attempt), & for his diaphragm to be able to pull in full breathes consistently on his own. Should this not be successful, two surgical options remain: placate the left side of his diaphragm or perform a tracheostomy.

Join us in praying for our sweet boy - that Saturday would hold a successful extubation & that he won't need to be re-intubated due to fatigue.

Jordan & Patience,

I will be fasting and praying for Isaac this Saturday. Praise the Lord that no more "strange behavior" has happened. I think God just wants to keep us all on our toes to keep praying and not forget He is not finished with Isaac, so..."Keep Praying!!"

thank you, Father, because Your mercies are new each & every morning. You're giving us one more opportunity to start fresh. thank You, because you restore all things in Your perfect time & love.
i agree, with jordan, patience, their families & Your church worldwide, over Isaac. he will continue to thrive with the new vent settings. the complete medical team is submerged in the name of Jesus, name above all names, and their minds are clear, their bodies healthy and hands steady as the perform the extubation on saturday. isaac's left vocal chord will be fully functional and diaphragm will have the ability to pull full breaths for You. we fully know & understand that Your perfect will will be done. You are the everlasting God, You do not change. You do not sleep or slumber. in Jesus perfect name. Amen!

jordan & patience, thank you, once again for utilizing this wonderful medium to keep us updated, allowing us to peek into your lives as you travel this journey with God by your side & for trusting in us to agree with you in prayer. THANK YOU, many times over!!!!!

patience, i miss your help with vocals :-( can't wait to have you back & finally, get to love on your chunky monkey, isaac.

We will be praying hard for Saturday to be a great success and that Isaac will be able to take deep breaths on his own! What a wonderful miracle baby Isaac is!

We will also be praying that Isaac's unusual behavior was nothing at all.

We hope that you both are able to find rest and peace knowing that the Lord is with you and your little one!

Patience,

My daughter & son-in-law, Dan & Julie Miles, were so glad to get to meet you and Isaac on Monday. Thank you for making time for them when you've got so much on your own mind and heart. It really encouraged them to actually see Isaac and to see you still doing well after this 'marathon'. I'll be praying the extubation is totally successful on Saturday.

This is awesome news. Isaac proves with each and every hurdle that he is a fighter and that he will prevail through God's hands. I am continually praying for all that you need and a little extra. I am so inspired by your never failing faith and trust in our Lord.
Thank You so much for sharing your journey/testimony with us.

Hi, it's Cindy Sampson, with the full trisomy 13 daughter, Lois, who will be 6 yers old (May 4th)--expected to reach 6 months at the most! Issac reminds me so much of she and her early days, though they deal with different issues; in that we'd get one thing cleared up, something else would arise, and we'd be given bleak prognoses and she'd bounce back stronger than ever. I think that God has given Issac the same type of resiliency and fighting ability! I'll pray for success on all of the current things you're dealing with; no seizures, extubation, etc. Lois eats totally by stomach feeding tube and retches at times. She also has a seizure disorder and takes medication for it but hasn't had one in 18 1/2 months! Her neurologist is amazed but I'm not as God made it possible. Issac looks so strong in his photos! I really feel that God will let him keep living and be an ongoing testimony. Prayers to all of you as I know how hard situations like this are on Mom & Dad especially, and all those involved. Love, Cindy Sampson, Seffner, Fl.

Jordan and Patience,
We have forwarded your blog to fellow Christians from other churches and they have forwarded to others...just want you both to know that there are so many praying for your precious son. We will now pray for complete and successful extubation with Isaac breathing on his own with no complications---God is the great physician--as we have experienced many times through Isaac's journey. We give God all the glory for all that He has done and will continue to do for Baby Isaac. We also continue to pray for your strength and courage. What a wonderful example you both are setting for others all around you. God bless. Rick and Shelia

Heavenly Father,

Today is a big day for Baby Isaac. Protect him, revive what has not worked in his body. Fill the room with your presence.

We pray for three things today Father:

Renew Isaac's vocal chord to function as you created the human body to do. By your healing hand give strenth to his pharynx so it can support itself, and give strenth to his diaphragm to be able to pull in full breathes consistently on his own.

We love you Lord and thank you for what you are going to do today!
