Isaac's resting comfortably in his PICU bed & to look at him, you'd never know anything had been wrong. After a frightening seizure episode & several blood labs, it was determined that Isaac had become extremely dehydrated - most likely a result from sweating his little heart out over the past week...he sweats like a grown man when he's mad! Thankfully, Benny was able to gain IV access to give Isaac fluids & meds. An echocardiogram revealed thickening of the heart muscle, a result of working hard to function. So the gameplan at this point is to successfully rehydrate Isaac, stabilize his sodium levels, & adjust his heart medication to assist his heart further.
What a day. At first, we were very concerned for Isaac's health & frustrated by the awful timing of it all. We'd finally come to the point where Isaac was doing well, nursing arranged, & work all in order. It just didn't seem fair! But as the day progressed, another perspective came into view. Thankfully, the call had come while Jordan & I were still home. Thankfully, Isaac was already at the hospital when his seizure hit. And thankfully, it wasn't worse...as it very well could have been! God knew we needed to be at UNC to learn about his heart thickening & at the end of the day, our sweet boy is still here.
Hopefully, we'll only be in Chapel Hill for another day or so. Now we know more of how to pray effectively for Isaac - that he would maintain hydration, safe electrolyte levels, & for his heart - that the muscle would work efficiently & go back to normal size. We see the cardiologist next Thursday to learn when he'll need the next surgery, most likely within the next month or so. Until then, we hold our sweet boy close, bathe him in prayer, & that God for His love & never-ending faithfulness.

Thank you Father for the fluid test taken yesterday that brought Isaac in to the hospital so they could find out about his heart. Thank you father that you promise to give rest to those who are weary and heavy laden. I pray your peace and strength and rest would overwhelm Jordan and Patience.
We also pray for Isaac who is the real fighter on this long journey. We pray that he would maintain the hydration, and electrolyte levels he needs to be safe. We pray for his heart - that the muscle would work efficiently & go back to normal size.
We pray you would prepare his body for the upcoming surgery he needs; that you would strengthen him beyond what his little body can do.
Oh what an amazing and strong little boy you have there! God really does work in amazing ways! I am so thankful that you were in the right place at the right time and that all fell into place. I know just how scary it is when your child has to be rehospitalized...Michael just had his second OHS and lets see, it was his 6th hospitalization in less than 1 year...but he is doing great now! I just know that Isaac will do amazing and how lucky he is to have such amazing parents! I will continue to pray for Isaac. God bless you all.
Bittersweet...I hope you all get to enjoy some well needed time alone at the beach, but praise the Lord that HE sees the big picture that may not be clear to us at the moment. Thankfully HE has given doctors the ability to detect things like a thickening heart muscle and the ability to know how to help. We are praying for you three. For Isaac's health, for you both to have the strength, perserverance, and encouragement as you move forward each day. You all are great. We are praying for you.

Patience and Jordan,
So glad to hear that Isaac is stabilising now, and that he was in the right place at the right time. God is indeed good.
Praying for a smooth recovery, a speedy return home and ongoing strength for the two of you.
We'll be holding you in our hearts as stage two approaches.
With love and support,

Thank you, Lord for guiding this family in the path you have chosen for them! You are such a loving God to have planned this so that it all came together to benefit this beautiful child.
You are in our prayers!
We praise you Father for Your perfect timing. Even though it didn't seem perfect at the time, You knew what was best for Isaac and his parents. Thank you that Jordan and Patience were still in town and able to take Isaac to UNC to get the care he needed. I pray for a quick recovery from this latest hiccup and that next week's cardiologist appointment goes well.
Please give continued strength, endurance and rest to the Leino family. Help little Isaac's heart to function well until the next surgery and help him to stay hydrated without any more seizures.
Thank You Father for all You've done and will continue to do for this sweet little boy.

God IS good. Life is a matter of perspectives... a perspective about ones own needs, or the needs of others.
My prayer is that you will have your time at the beach (anywhere for that matter) so that you can fellowship together and with your Heavenly Father...as Jesus did in the hills.
God is in control! I'm praying everyday.

You guys have such a great attitude! As a friend said to me this morning in a different context, "our God is an on-time God".
I'll be praying.
In Him,
Bruce (for Cindy and David)
Oh guys, I so bummed about you not being able to be at the beach, but so happy you are where you need to be now. Hopefully you'll be able to make it soon and maybe next year at this time Issac will be ready to go with little muscle floaties!
Thank you for the update. We certainly will continue to keep you in our prayers.
